GMA’s nationally acclaimed design for the Oakland SPCA’s “PeopleSoft” Adoption/Education Facility marked a turning point in the design of Domestic Animal Care facilities. By creating a people-oriented “destination” place which integrated humane animal habitats, natural light, and interactive education displays with state-of-the-art ventilation and sanitation systems, GMA’s design convincingly illustrated that domestic animal care environments no longer needed to perpetuate a negative “dog pound” imagery. Since its completion in 1994, GMA has continued its leadership role in the evolving design of Animal Control, Humane Society, and Veterinary Clinic facilities throughout the United States and Canada.
